CHRISTIAN PETER BESSINGER was Jan 7, 1838 in Pfortzheim, Baden, Germany. He lists his parents in his marriage certificate as MICHAEL BESSINGER & CALHARINA NEUBACH. He married ANTONIA GOETZ on May 5, 1862 in Milwaukee, Wi. Antonia was born June 10, 1839 in Gainsburg, Baden, Ger. Their children were all born in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Wi.:

- Charles "Charley" b Jan 25, 1874; D June 5, 1914 Napoleon, Lafayette, Mo. Charley drank a bottle of lye while hiding out in the cornfield.
- Michael Christian "Mike" b July 2, 1876; D Apr 8, 1950 Napoleon, Lafayette, Mo.
Christian was a Corp. with the Wi. Co. E 24th Reg. Vol. Infantry during the Civil War. Census records for Christian:
- 1870 Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Wi.
Christian died Oct 29, 1911 & Antonia died May 4, 1913. Both died in Wellington, Lafayette, Mo. & are buried at the Arnold Cemetery.
DANIEL BESSINGER was born Feb 26, 1863 in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Wi. He married AMELIA ANN "AMY" GATES on Dec 16, 1891 in Lexington, Lafayette, Mo. Their children were all corn in Cleveland Co., O.T. (Ok.):

Daniel took part in the O.T. land run. He staked his claim near Newalla, Ok. Dan died Aug 4, 1941 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie, Ok. Amy died Aug 19, 1952 in Prague, Lincoln, Ok. They are both buried in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery at Newalla. The land was donated by Dan for this cemetery. Their daughter Grace Lillian married Birtie Maborn Whitlow. They were my grandparents.

LEONARD GOETZ was born abt 1793 in Baden, Germany. He married WALBURG ?. She was born abt 1806 in Germany. Their children were:

On Oct 13, 1856 Leonard & Cornelius Goetz were Naturalized in Washington Co., Wi. Leonard died abt 1870 & Walburg died Oct. 1861.
STEPHEN H. GATES was born Dec 26, 1839 in Baden, Germany. Jan 11, 1869 in Lafayette Co., Mo. he married ANGELINE McFARLAND. Angeline was born Dec 16, 1842 in Mo. Their children were all born in Napoleon, Lafayette, Mo.:

Angeline died Feb 18, 1882 in Napoleon, Lafayette, Mo. She is buried in the Martin-Carr Cemetery in Wellington, Mo. Stephen then married his neighbors daughter Sept 26, 1888, Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie" Bessinger. Their children were:

- Francis D. "Frank" b Jan 20, 1890; D May 24, 1947; Buried Arnold Cemetery, Wellington, Mo. He never married.
- Isabella b Sept 12, 1894; D abt 1 year of age She fell into the well and drowned.; Buried Martin-Carr Cemetery Wellington, Mo.
- Norma b Oct 2, 1896; D Jan 28, 1976 Lexington, Lafayette, Mo.; Buried Memorial Park Cemetery; M Edward Lemberg

Even though Stephen is listed as a Union soldier in Lafayette Co., there has not been any other record showing he served. It may be that he was a member of the Home Guard. Stephen died Mar 24, 1917 in Waterloo, Lafayette, Mo. His 2nd wife Lizzie died Nov 12, 1943. They are both buried at the Arnold Cemetery.

JOHN W. McFARLAND was born abt 1804 in Tn. He married EMERINE NOLAND on Feb 25, 1835 in Johnson Co., Mo. Emerine was born abt 1818 in Ky. Their children were all born in Mo.:
