HIRAM ORR, probably DANIEL HIRAM ORR is shown on the 1880 Howard Co census with wife Mary and children William,Mary( may be Mary Kate),Fannie,Emma and James.We believe this is our line.If so, this man ran off with another man's wife. Woman's name was Genetta. Supposedly Orr killed her husband in a confrontation and spent some time in jail. I was wondering if the Ozan Cemetery in Nashville, Ark. is in Howard County? I have a photo of my grandparents graves located there, but did not see the cemetery in the cemetery section. Got an e-mail recently saying Isaac W. Faulkner died Howard Co and buried Bethel Cemetery. Doesn't say when he died but it does have his birth date and place correct (1809, Kentucky) and his wife, Elizabeth. Also mentions that he is the son of Francis Ballenger Faulkner and Nancy Dinsmore. This is all correct. It's widely known that Isaac's brother's Hiram and Luke relocated to Howard County area between 1860 and 1869 but I had dead-ended with Isaac W. in Cherokee Co Alabama in 1850. I have been unable so far to find any record of him being in the Howard County area, don't know when he went there or when he died. James Richardson Campbell, a farmer, Stephens, Arkansas. Prominent among the leading farmers of the county stands the name of the above-mentioned gentleman, who was born in what is now Howard County, Arkansas, on February 11, 1859, and who is the son of Arthur and Frances Jane (Wommock) Campbell, both natives of Tennessee. The father was reared in Tennessee, and came to Arkansas when a single man. He was married in Howard County, Arkansas and engaged in tilling the soil in that county of which he was one of the first settlers. He died during the late Civil War. The mother is now a resident of Stephens, Arkansas, and is living with her second husband. James Richardson Campbell was the fourth of five children born to his parents. His early scholastic training was received in Columbia County, Arkansas, and his marriage to Miss Martha D. Parker, was consummated in 1887. The latter was born in Columbia County, Arkansas in April, 1867, and she is the daughter of Jonathan and Martha D. (McDavid) Parker. To Mr. and Mrs. Campbell has been born one child. On July 1, 1873, road districts divided and overseers appointed. In Howard County Blackwood township was divided into 3 districts and Jeremiah WALDEN was appointed overseer for district 3. Looking for any information on Jeremiah and his wife, Louisa Ann CARTER. Jeremiah was son of John WALDEN and Nancy Mary YOUNG. Louisa's parents were George W. CARTER and Emiline TIMBERLAKE (who were in Polk county -- George and second wife moved to Blackwood township prior to 1880.) I am trying to track down a Samuel RUSSELL born 1809 North Carolina to John RUSSELL and Elizabeth Mitchell. As a very young child he moved with his parents to southern Indiana. After 1825 he moved to Arkansas. He was living there as referenced in his father's will dated 1842 and probated in Indiana. My grt-grt g.m. Luiza/Lizza/Lissa White was born in TX 1854 per census info. She was residing in Howard Co. in 1880 census where we think possiby my grt. g.f. Wm. I. Cogburn was born 1872. His father died prior to his birth and do not know his given name nor anything about his family. Do not know names of Luiza's parents, siblings, nor anything else about her family. About the year after Wm's birth, Luiza re-married Adam F. Whisenhunt; they and the children later moved to TX where they died in Taylor Co. William K. DOWDY was born 1833 in Georgia, and died 1910 in Pike Co., Arkansas. He married Celia Elizabeth (maiden name unknown), and by 1860 they were enumerated in the 1860 census of Sevier Co., AR. In the 1870 census they are listed on a farm in Muddy Fork Township in Western Pike Co., in 1880 in they were farming in Howard County's Muddy Fork Township, and in 1900 they were back on a Pike Co. farm. In 1910 William and Celia were listed in the household of their son-in-law Charley J. POLK in Howard Co. William served in Company K, 24th Arkansas Confederate Infantry. Celia died in 1928 and is buried next to her hisband in Academy Cemetery in Pike Co. According to the microfilmed Arkansas Biographical Card File Index, there is an obituary for Selia Dowdy in the 1929 Howard County Baptist Association minutes, page 16. Is this source available in Pike or Howard County libraries? Chuck Davis in Lakewood, CO is researching William and Celia and their descendants.
